Ganzhou economic development zone is located in the northwest of the central urban area of Ganzhou. It was established in July 1990 and approved as a national economic development zone in 2010. It manages 6 townships (towns, streets and management offices) and 1 comprehensive protection zone, with a total area of 228 square kilometers, a built-up area of 53 square kilometers and a permanent population of 380000. In the comprehensive evaluation of national development zones in 2020, it ranked 56th and second in the province, and ranked third in the comprehensive evaluation of 100 development zones competing for excellence in Jiangxi Province for the last two consecutive years.
